Where else to look
Some places you might expect are not on the list because their own sites show no current classes. The Jim Thompson Art Center lists exhibitions, including “And Still, Another After” until 29 March 2027, but no workshops, and MOCA Bangkok’s home page lists none either. Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Decorative Arts says it runs fee-based short courses for the public, without a current list, so ask its office.
How to choose an art class
- Pottery class or painting? Clay needs firing, so ask when finished pieces can be collected; a wheel taster suits a first try before a four-session course.
- Term or one-off? A weekly block keeps the same group and teacher; a single workshop or a walk-in session lets you test a medium first.
- Holiday camps suit families during school breaks; check the daily hours and whether lunch is included.
- Free city courses ask for steady weekend attendance across 80 hours, so plan for the full course.
Questions to ask before you book
- What language is the class taught in? Several sites do not say.
- How many students are there per teacher, and are materials and firing included?
- What happens if you miss a session, and is there a refund?
- For children: may parents stay, and who supervises during breaks? Paintbar, for one, states that its instructors do not supervise children.
