Overacting on Netflix: Thai action-comedy with Teng Terd Terng

Overacting, a Thai action-comedy film, has been streaming on Netflix worldwide since Thursday 5 November. Directed by Prueksa Amaruji, it stars comedian Teng Terd Terng as a retired inspector and Bow Maylada Susri as his daughter, an actress who stages fake crime-busting missions to lift his spirits. Netflix announced the release with the trailer and key art in October.

The story

In Netflix’s synopsis, Inspector Winai is a tough cop in retirement whose memory is fading. He keeps reliving his glory days and an old grudge that was never settled.

His daughter, Woranuch, recruits her ex-flame, a traffic officer, and her friends to put on over-the-top missions so that he can feel like a hero again. The plan gets out of hand as real officers start to close in, and the real Sua Hao, Winai’s old enemy, starts committing actual crimes.

The film is on Netflix only, in Thailand and worldwide, from 5 November. Netflix did not announce a cinema release. Search for “Overacting” in the Netflix app or on netflix.com; other sites offering the film are not legal ways to watch it.
