Curtain Up Studios: drama classes, camps and LAMDA in Bangkok
Spotlight on Curtain Up Studios in Watthana: weekly drama classes, show-in-a-week holiday camps and LAMDA, with January sign-up dates to be announced.
Curtain Up Studios is an English-language drama and musical theatre studio at 82/62 Soi Pridi Banomyong 43 in Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, offering weekly classes, holiday camps and LAMDA classes. Its most recent dated programmes were “show in a week” camps in October 2026. According to the studio’s weekly classes page, sign-ups for its Drama, Musical Theatre and Youth Theatre classes reopen in January, with dates to be announced.
What it is
According to the studio’s website, Curtain Up offers drama classes, dance, holiday camps, birthday parties, school programmes and performances for children, teens and adults in Bangkok. Its about page gives 2008 as its founding year and says the team believes in “the magic of theatre to inspire, connect, and empower people of all ages.”
The same page names a team of instructors, including Gabi as Lead Practitioner, and describes the aim of building confidence, creativity and teamwork in a supportive setting. The studio also rents out its space; details are on its studio rental page.
Who it is for
Curtain Up’s Instagram bio sums up its focus as drama for kids and teens, and also mentions adult classes. Ages differ by programme:
| Programme | Ages, as the studio lists them |
|---|---|
| Holiday camps (October 2026 titles) | 4-6, 7-11, 12-17 and 10-17, depending on the camp |
| Weekly term classes | Three groups: 4-6, 7-11 and 12+ |
| LAMDA classes | 4 to adult |
The weekly classes page lists Playful Performers, Youth Theatre, K-Pop Dance, Musical Theatre, Drama, Little Voices, Magic and two film classes, Star In Your Own Movie and Direct & Star In Your Own Movie. Fees are listed on the studio’s own pages; check them there or with the studio before booking.
When and where
All teaching takes place at the studio in Soi Pridi Banomyong 43, Khlong Tan Nuea. The weekly classes page shows a five-week term with end-of-term productions in the final week. The next term’s dates are to be announced.
Holiday camps follow school breaks. The October 2026 camps ran in two weeks, 12-16 October and 19-23 October, with three titles: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Coco and Beetlejuice. The studio’s FAQ says camps generally run Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm with snack and lunch included, though times can vary by age and number of groups. Each camp ends with a Friday performance for families. No December 2026 camp is listed on the studio’s site at the time of writing.
How to apply
The FAQ says camp registration is by online form, and the studio’s Instagram profile links to a booking form. For weekly classes, the studio says it is not taking more trials or sign-ups for Drama, Musical Theatre and Youth Theatre this year, and that sign-ups will reopen in January.
For LAMDA, the studio’s LAMDA page says class dates and times are arranged with the instructor, in private or shared lessons. Its listed phone number is (+66) 085-552-5806, and a programme catalogue can be downloaded from the LAMDA page.
What makes it distinctive, in its own words
According to the studio’s website, its LAMDA classes prepare students for graded examinations and certificates in Acting, Speaking in Public, Verse & Prose, and Communication. The page adds that LAMDA qualifications can contribute UCAS points for university applications in the UK.
On camps, a post on the studio’s blog describes “a full creative experience” that moves between acting, singing, art and movement. The post also highlights its international teaching team, real props and costumes, and daily lunch and garden playtime. It says the studio invites children to explore rather than pushing them to perform.
The weekly timetable also includes filmmaking: the studio describes the Direct & Star In Your Own Movie class with the line “Step behind the camera and direct.”
