The 50 Best Restaurants 2026: Gaggan at No. 2, five from Bangkok

Five Bangkok restaurants made The 50 Best Restaurants 2026, announced at a ceremony in Lima, Peru, on the night of Wednesday 4 November, local time. Gaggan is the highest, at No. 2, and the list names it The Best Restaurant in Asia 2026. Only Asador Etxebarri in Spain, the new No. 1, ranked above it.

A new name for the list

The awards were called The World’s 50 Best Restaurants until September this year, when they were renamed The 50 Best, BK Magazine reports. More than 1,100 experts from the international food industry voted, according to The Standard.

The Bangkok five

• Gaggan, Gaggan Anand’s restaurant: No. 2, and The Best Restaurant in Asia 2026.
• Sorn, led by chef Supaksorn “Ice” Jongsiri: No. 12.
• Sühring: No. 14.
• Nusara, chef Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn’s restaurant: No. 18.
• Potong, led by chef Pam: No. 32.

BK Magazine named the chefs; it gives Potong’s chef by her first name only.

Not the same as Asia’s list

This is the global list. On Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, announced in March, Gaggan placed third, The Standard reported at the time.
